About Doctor Jim Tracy
Dr. Jim Tracy is a 1979 graduate of the Georgetown University School of Dentistry. He practiced General Dentistry for 18 years, half of that he was in recovery from his own personal struggle with addiction to drugs and alcohol.
“No one was there to intervene on me. Today I realize an intervention would have saved my family and I from years of suffering.” Dr. Tracy says; “The belief I could help people avoid some of the more severe consequences I experienced, is one of the reasons I got involved in interventions.”
In 1988, during his first year of recovery, Dr. Tracy became a member of the Bay Area Well-Being Committee for the California Dental Association. His became involved in helping other Dentists, which led to his participation in facilitating interventions. He then served as Chairman of that committee for 3 years. During this time Dr. Tracy became actively involved in referring people to some of the leading treatment centers across the nation and in 1994 he became affiliated with the Talbott Recovery Campus in Atlanta as the Western Program Liaison and Interventionist.
Dr. Tracy continued to enjoy a successful dental practice until 1997 when he retired from active dental practice to pursue a career in the addiction field. He became the Assistant Director for the Nevada State Board of Medical Examiners Diversion Program. In this position he was responsible for interventions, referral to treatment and long term monitoring of impaired physicians
Two years later Dr. Tracy was recruited to develop a treatment program for impaired professionals at the Betty Ford Center in Rancho Mirage, California. He served as a Vice President Betty Ford Center’s Professional Recovery Program. He continues to enjoy his residence as a neighbor of the Betty Ford Center in Rancho Mirage.
